My puppy has red pee, worms in stool, and pees a lot. Is it a UTI?

Missing the dewormer dose by just a couple of days would not cause any of the symptoms you are describing in Penny. I would go ahead and give her the repeat dose as soon as possible. As far as the urinary issues are concerned, Penny either has a urinary tract infection or is just going through a phase in her potty training where she is going more frequently. If she is posturing to urinate and nothing comes out or if you are noticing blood in the urine, a uti is much more likely. I would recommend at least taking a sample of Penny’s urine in to be examined by your veterinarian tinrule out an infection. Make sure she is going regularly and not having to hold it too long and that she is getting plenty of fluids. The discoloration and increase in frequency can be signs of a urinary infection. Since everything else is normal, you do not need to get her seen as an emergency tonight, but do recommend a urine sample at your vet as this can make house training more difficult and be uncomfortable for her if left untreated.

Reddish urination during this period of time can definitely occur. However, this is not to say that it isn't coincidental and a separate urinary issue is not occurring. As long as July isn't experiencing any other clinical signs such as frequent small amounts of urination, straining to urinate, pain when urination, or urinating extremely large amounts, I wouldn't necessarily assume anything is wrong currently. If you have a working relationship with your veterinarian, he might be open to you collecting a urine sample in a container and dropping it off at their office for analysis. They will be able to tell you if there are large numbers of white blood cells and/or bacteria present, and potentially prescribe an antibiotic should they see fit. Hope this makes sense.

It is possible that she has a UTI that is not responding to the particular antibiotics that your veterinarian initially prescribed, which can be a problem especially in older pets. Your veterinarian should perform a urinalysis and a urine culture and susceptibility (if they haven't already) to see if there is an infection present and to what particular antibiotics it is susceptible. Another possible cause of Gracie's signs could be urinary bladder stones, which can cause irritation of the bladder, leading to frequent urinations that are often red-tinged. Most bladder stones are visible on abdominal x-rays, which may be recommended by your veterinarian. Other stones require an abdominal ultrasound to see. An abdominal ultrasound would also be able to detect any other abnormalities in the bladder, for example, a tumor. I recommend ensuring she has plenty of access to water, and having her seen by your veterinarian at their next available appointment. I hope this is helpful!

Poor Yoni! Unfortunately without seeing her in person, it is impossible for me to say for sure what is going on. Red eyes can indicate an infection, an ulcer on the eye, or simple allergies. You could try Benadryl twice a day to see if this helps. You can also try some artificial tears drops in both eyes 3-4 times per day. See link below for Benadryl dosing. An increase in urination could be an indication of a UTI. They don't always lick their privates when they have a UTI. She is also a very young dog so it could be behavioral. If these issues aren't improving, I would strongly recommend to have her seen by your vet. Your vet can determine if there is any infection or scratch/ulcer in the eyes and also determine whether she has any true urinary issues or if it is just behavioral. I am sorry to hear that your dog is experiencing this. Urinary tract infections would be the most common cause of dark red urine, but urinary bladder stones are also common and are more likely to lead to clots as well. Even less common but still a possibility would be urinary tract cancer. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. This is very likely due to a urinary tract infection, you will need to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked, the vet will perform a urine analysis, if the test comes back positive your vet will prescribe a course of antibiotics for your dog which should solve the problem in a very short time.
