My puppy is recovering from sickness but won't eat. What to do?

I would start trying to feed liquid foods such as royal canin gastrointestinal liquid or recovery blended with warm water then slowly introduce thicker textures until he iis eating semisolid ad solid foods again. If not taking these voluntarily I recommend an earlier recheck

I would just give him a small dose of plain white boneless skinless chicken and white rice to help settle his tummy. If he is acting lethargic or continues to have vomiting or diarrhea, I would have a vet take a look at him. Small dogs like him can quickly get dehydrated. I would be very concerned that Chloe hasn't gone potty for two days and isn't eating, and I would have him seen by a vet for it right away. It could be he has something more seriously wrong with him than food poisoning, such as a foreign body, causing his symptoms. I would not vaccinate him now either. He should only be vaccinated when he's healthy, which includes eating and going to the bathroom normally.

Poor girl. She may have an internal illness that is making her not want to eat. Since it has been more than 24 hrs I would encourage you to take her to your vet to get checked out. She may have an infection, organ malfunction, or a severe stomach upset from something she ate. She will likely need medications through your vet to help her get back on her feet. In the meantime you can try offering her small amounts of Pedialyte non-flavored (diluted 50:50 with water) and small amounts of a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese. Good on you for getting Shaggy's shots, but I'm sorry he isn't eating! You can see a drop in appetite after getting the vaccines, but it should return within 24-48 hours. I would try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts. I'm glad that Machin is doing better after being so sick! It is recommended to withhold food when a dog is vomiting. I'm not sure when Machin last vomited, but I would wait at least 12 hours from the time he last vomited before feeding him again. I would then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he starts vomiting again on the bland diet, then I would take him back into the vet.

Milo is ridiculously cute!! My main concern is that he start drinking. You can offer water with a little chicken broth in it. (But always make sure there is fresh water too.) Start a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora. Try a bland diet (half plain boiled/canned chicken half plain cooked white rice) for a few days and I expect the diarrhea to improve after 1-3 days. (Then transition back to her regular diet slowly over 3-5 days.) If at ANY time he is lethargic, vomiting, not wanting to eat, or you have other concerns, you need to go to the vet clinic right away to make sure it’s nothing more serious.
