My puppy has a raised pink rash near her genitals. What should I do?

Rashes in that area are common. It can be whats called Puppy Pyoderma or it can be more of a hygiene issue (puppies aren't very good at cleaning themselves after using the restroom). You may try using a pet wipe and cleaning her vulva and the area around it after she urinates. If it's a hygiene issue, the rash will generally start to look much better within a few days. If the rash is still present after a week or if you see it gets worse, I recommend to have Daisy examined by the veterinarian. Make sure Daisy is not excessively licking at the area as this can make it worse. I hope this helps.

As long as he is acting normal and urinating normal, I suspect this may just be a little bit of contact dermatitis. A little cocker puppy is low to the ground, so Charlie will be rubbing on grass when he goes outside and possibly picking up allergens and moisture. You can bath him with a mild puppy shampoo to see if that helps the redness. If he is licking excessively or having any difficulty urinating then he may need to see a vet.

I would recommend monitoring it for now and if it worsens, becomes much larger or does not go away, I would recommend having the veterinarian recheck Maisy so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. You can apply a spray such as Malacetic conditioning spray to the area, which can be found online and do this twice daily until it resolves. I hope this helps! This does look like a skin rash. I would clean it with antibacterial soap and then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. It should heal in a few days to a week. Please keep her from rubbing or scratching the area. If you see more lesions then I recommend a veterinary exam and treatment. Did you mean to have a picture attached to your question? If so, unfortunately there was not one attached. Puppies often get “pimples/pustules. This is usually a skin infection called puppy pyoderma. However, other problems such as a bug bite are possible as well. A Small amount of neosporin is unlikely to cause any harm at this time. Most mild Cases of pyoderma will resolve on their own or with a medicated shampo. However more significant cases need antibiotic therapy. I would recommend that you monitor the area close for any change or other pustules to appear. Congratulations on your puppy! It is difficult to tell for certain from a photo, but it looks as though Mollie could have a pustule located adjacent to her nipple and that is what you are seeing. this is a little spot of infection under the skin (like a whitehead pimple in people). This isn't uncommon in puppies (we call it puppy pyoderma) and we often treat with a medicated shampoo or topical antibiotic in mild cases. I would wash the area with a mild soap and apply a triple antibiotic ointment for now and schedule an appointment with the vet to have it looked at to be on the safe side, as I said it is impossible to say for certain from a photo if this is exactly what is going on.
