My 7-month puppy mated. Can she get pregnant on her first heat?

I have an 7 month Malti Poo and a 11 year old Min Pin. Can my 7 month get pregnant if she mated for the first time ?

Yes Lola can, but she should not be mated just yet. It's not recommended to mate a dog on the first heat, you should wait until at least the second heat to give her time to mature physically and emotionally.

No, she’s still just a teenager and needs to mature before being bred. Young dogs have more trouble giving birth and they are not usually as good at being a mother as older, more mature dogs. While it's not recommended that a dog gets pregnant on their first heat, typically they do tend to be ok. If she does accidentally get pregnant, be sure to have regular visits with the vet, and have money set aside in case she needs an emergency c section. I hope this helps!

I recommend you have Molly seen by your vet to make sure she is okay. Dogs usually go into heat around 6 months of age, but can also go into heat earlier, and often the first heat is not noticeable, as there is not always a lot of visible discharge. She may be pregnant, so speak to your vet about what your options are regarding that as well, and if you want to keep the puppies to term. I recommend having Molly spayed and your other dog neutered to help reduce the risk of unwanted pregnancies, certain undesirable behaviours, and certain diseases. It is never recommend to breed a dog on their first heat because they aren't fully mature emotionally or physically. It's best to breed them on their second or third heat for the first time. At the time of their first heat, a dog will not be fully grown, nor will they be emotionally mature, and this can lead to problems with giving birth and mothering ability. By the time a dog has their second heat, they will typically be matured both physically and emotionally, and that will make her a better mother. If she is a healthy dog, she should be fine. You can have her examined by your veterinarian. A vaginal swab can be examined in the clinic for the presence of sperm. There is a canine equivalent of the "morning after" pill for accidental matings. Your vet can dispense a 5 day course of a hormone pill to prevent pregnancy.
