Why does my puppy have spreading pink patches and lumps on her skin?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Plott | Female | unspayed | 30 lbs

My dog has these strange pink patches and small lumps under her skin on her snout and neck. She is our hiking partner and is very adventurous but we haven’t taken her out for a couple of weeks. These spots have easily spread and doubled in size in just two days.. what is going on? She is a plott/walker hound and it’s about six months old.

I would recommend that you have Scout examined by a vet. It could be a bacterial infection, ringworm, demodectic mange, or something else. The vet will probably do a skin scrape to see what organism is causing the hair loss so that she can get appropriate treatment.
