My puppy has spreading skin sores and hair loss. What is it?

From the pictures, it appears Rosie has a severe skin infection that may be caused by a mite infection (mange) or flea allergy. She will need to be treated as soon as possible for this at your local veterinarian's office. Unfortunately, there is no home remedies for mange. Her skin infection (even if it is fleas) will need to be treated with antibiotics at your veterinarian's office. Using a monthly flea preventative will help prevent fleas from reoccurring. Please take her in as soon as possible. She really looks miserable in the pictures .

Petra is very cute! I would recommend taking her to a vet for a skin scrape. This will make sure she does not have skin mites like demodex. IT is possible a small allergy,fungal disease, skin infection or even vasculitis from a rabies vaccine cause the hair loss. However due to breed I would make sure she does not have skin mites.

Hello. Cocoa may have sarcoptic or demodectic mange, both common in puppies & very itchy. Your veterinarian can diagnose this very quickly with a simple skin scrape & once a diagnosis is made, appropriate treatment started. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Hello. In a 7 month old pup, my first guess is Demodex mange. But, this could also be a simple bacterial infection. Let your veterinarian do a simple skin test to see if the mites are present. Thanks for the pictures. By looking at them, there seems to be a different look to some of them. The one on the nose appears raised, and has me concerned that it is skin mass. It could just be the picture angle... Hairloss in dogs is usually related to mites, or allergies. I would recommend taking Parker into a veterinarian. They can see if the lesions are related to each other. They will also do some diagnostics such as a skin scrape to check for mites, skin cytology to check for secondary infections and possibly a fungal culture. If the nose lesion is actually a mass, they will most likely do a cytology (stick a needle in it, push cells on a slide, stain slide and look at them under a microscope). If it turns out to be allergies, please realize that allergies (just like humans) can't be cured, only controlled. It may take a few different treatments to get them under control. I would recommend that you have Scout examined by a vet. It could be a bacterial infection, ringworm, demodectic mange, or something else. The vet will probably do a skin scrape to see what organism is causing the hair loss so that she can get appropriate treatment.

Judging from the pictures and your description, I would suspect that this could be due to a superficial bacterial skin infection. I would recommend using a shampoo such as Duoxo PS + chlorhexidine combination shampoo, fish oil such as Welactin and essential 6 spot on by Dermoscent. If there is no improvement with the skin / hair coat worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at Ruby so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
