Why is my 6-week-old puppy peeing constantly and dripping clear urine?

It's normal for puppies to have very clear, dilute urine because their kidneys are still developing. They can also get urinary tract infections and other issues as well. I would recommend scheduling a vet visit (or telling them you want to talk about this issue when you schedule his next vaccine appointment) and using a small tuberware to catch his first urination of the morning to bring to that appointment. They can check to see how concentrated his urine is. Keep the urine in the fridge if it's going to be more than 30-60 minutes until your appointment. Good luck!

Some puppies are just fascinated by water and drink constantly regardless of thirst. The 25 ounces is about double what Wallace needs per day, dog’s typically drink 1-2 ounces per pound. You should have him seen by a vet to rule out a UTI, kidney disease, or very rare forms of diabetes. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you have!

It is important to differentiate between a medical problem and her learning how to be potty trained. A behavioral problem is most common at her age, but I do see urinary tract infections as well as congenital disorders. I hope this information helps!

AT Dante's age, you shoudl start decreasing the amount of puppy milk and increasing the amount of food. He should be fully weaned by 8 weeks of age so milk is no longer needed. I do recommend to have his urine checked for any infection. Puppies do urinate frequently but they typically just go in one large pee puddle. Not several smaller puddles. Hello. Jack Jack should definitely not be urinating every 30 minutes. This could be a physical problem, or he has some kind of psychological issue, especially if he is drinking more than a normal amount of water. I think it would be a good idea to see if his kidneys are OK & that he does not have any other issues with holding his urine. At the very least, he should be able to hold his urine a minimum of 4-6 hours at this age. Hopefully, he will be fine & he will outgrow this behavior, but I would recommend making sure there is not a medical reason for such frequent outings. Oh Chester! It sounds like he is not emptying his bladder when he pees. I would take him on a leash to his potty area and give him a command like "go potty", wait 10-15 minutes for him to go. If he goes right away, great, but I would wait another 10-15 minutes to make sure he empties his bladder. Continue to take him out when he wakes up, after he eats, when hes doing playing and before bed. Keep him near you at all times so you can catch him before he has an accident. Give him lots of praise when he potties when he's told. Also set up a daily routine so he understands when to go. This is going to take time, patience, and repetition. Hi there! It sounds like little Woody needs to visit the vet. Frequent urination can indicate a urinary tract infection (UTI). When bacteria develop in the bladder, it inflames the urethra (the tube out which a male dog urinates), and causes a dog to feel like he has to pee all the time. I would be even more suspicious of this if he has little urine coming out when he's trying to urinate. A UTI is probably not an emergency at this point, but it is likely to be very uncomfortable if this is the case. While very unlikely at this age, it is possible for the urethra to swell so much that it blocks the passage of urine, which quickly becomes a life-threatening situation. I strongly suggest bringing Woody to the vet ASAP if the frequent urination continues. In the meantime, make sure he has access to plenty of water to keep the bladder and kidneys flushed out. There isn't much that you can do for him at home safely aside from this. Do be on the lookout for blood in the urine, as this is another indicator of a UTI.
