My puppy has Parvo, is unresponsive, and breathing hard. What's wrong?

I'm really sorry to see this. In a 10-week old, I am very concerned about parvovirus as a cause of the signs you are seeing. The pale gums and fast breathing indicates to me that this little pup is going into shock or may be anemic from losing blood in the diarrhea. This is an emergency and she needs to go to the vet immediately to prevent life-threatening complications. In the meantime, try to keep her warm and encourage her to drink some water if she is able. It sounds like your puppy is extremely sick, and parvovirus can take a few weeks for a dog to fully recover. It's very concerning he is not drinking as dehydration is the number one cause of death in these animals. He should see a vet again immediately, please take him into one now. Best of luck.

Poor Luna! When pets have severe viral infections, they need supportive care. This may include intravenous fluids and feeding through a nasogastric tube. It sounds like Luna is very sick. I recommend to call her veterinarian and discuss parental feeding and fluids. She may also need additional supportive care. I hope this helps and I hope she starts recovering quickly.

Poor guy. There are some complications that can arise from a pet having Parovivirus, and one of them is a condition called intussusception (folding in of the intestines). This is what I suspect may be going on with your pet Trap. He could also just have a really bad bacterial infection secondary to the parovirus and is in need of additional antibiotics. I typically put pets on Metronidazole and Cefazolin or Penicillin for total coverage. Talk to your vet about additional antibiotics. Also Trap could very well be shaking because he is in pain. Parvovirus causes sloughing of the intestines, which is uncomfortable for pets. Ask your vet about pain meds (i.e. Tramadol) for Trap. That good to hear she is swallowing, but if she really is unresponsive (meaning you cannot get her attention and she will not move from her position), then that is very concerning and she will need to see an emergency veterinarian right away. You should definitely call your veterinarian and let them know right away. While there can be various causes for wheezing, one big one can be fluid over load - meaning fluid is building up in Bakri’s lungs. the doctor will need to listen to her lungs and may need an X-Ray. I am concerned that she is having such trouble breathing. This could be another pneumonia, an upper respiratory infection, a fungal infection, a congenital heart problem and much more. If your vet has already done X-rays and they were normal, you may want to talk to them about having an ultrasound of the heart done. Also, I would have her blood work checked to see how her liver and kidney values are and see what her white blood count looks like. Finally, I would talk to your vet about whether see needs some antibiotics and medicine to help her breathing. I hope this helps and she starts to feel better soon.
