Parvo virus is not infectious to humans. However, it can be a life threatening disease in unvaccinated puppies. You should late your puppy to a veterinarian immediately if you suspect that he might have Parvo.

Parvo is not infectious to humans, so you don't need to worry about that. Your puppy's situation is critical if he does have parvo, and it's the virus itself that is making your puppy vomit so much. He needs veterinary attention now, please bring him into a vet right away.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! A dog can continue to shed virus and affect other dogs for 3-6 weeks after being successfully treated for parvovirus. For that reason, Flynn should stay away from other dogs for that time period to avoid infecting other dogs. Good luck and have a great day!

Possible, yes; probable no. I would be more worried about her being sick than you catching something from her. She could be breaking with parvo virus and that is not contagious to humans. I suggest that if her symptoms continue (vomiting and not eating) you get her to a vet for an exam as soon as you can.

I would be very concerned about parvovirus since a littermate died and the virus is extremely contagious and can be fatal. I recommend getting Pup to a vet as soon as possible to have her. tested for the virus. If she is positive, I recommend hospitalization with IV fluid therapy and medications because this virus can cause severe dehydration in a puppy that young. If she is negative, I recommend they test her stool for microscopic parasite eggs. Will feeding human food to my puppy lead to them getting parvovirus?

I hate to hear that Moonlight might have parvo as that is very serious. Parvo is caused by a virus and not caused by any type of food. The virus can live in the soil for up to a year after it is passed in the feces of an infected dog. I recommend to have Moonlight seen asap by a veterinarian to start treatment. My 9-week-old puppy threw up in the car. Is it car sickness or parvo?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the food was thrown up mostly undigested this is likely more regurgitation. My suspicion is this is probably more just from car sickness. If Nittany is acting otherwise normal then I would suggest feeding her a small bland meal (boiled chicken and sweet potato) later today and then resuming her normal diet tomorrow. Dogs with parvo usually have both vomiting and severe diarrhea so I think it's unlikely this is what is going on with Nittany. However, if her vomiting persists or diarrhea, lethargy or inappetance develops then you should schedule a visit with a veterinarian.

It could be parvo but it could also be other things. you need to take him urgently to the vet for him to get hospitalized and treated, if it is parvo his chances are not good at his age but if it is something else he could survive if he receives the correct treatment.

Hello. It is very unlikely that a 9-year-old dog can contract Parvo. But there is any number of conditions & diseases that can cause severe gastrointestinal upsets. I can not tell you if this is a fatal situation or not, all I can say is you need to stay in close communication with your veterinarian, reporting any unusual signs, or indications that your pet is not healing or doing well.
