Some people also will recommend using goats milk but it is also not ideal for a puppy's nutritional requirements and can cause either constipation or diarrhea. If you cannot find puppy milk replacer like Esbilac at a pet supply or feed store I'd recommend contacting a veterinarian near you. You can also order it online. Emergency veterinary clinics are often willing to sell milk replacer from their stock if you need it on an urgent basis.

Calories supply energy to help your pet heal, feel better & hopefully not lose too much weight while he tries to recover from Parvo. There is nothing nutritional in Nutrical other than the calories from sugar. This sugar is absorbed through the mucous membranes of the gums. So yes, as long as Baxter does not vomit after putting the Nutrical on his gums, you should continue to do so until he is eating on his own. If the puppies are eating and drinking well and acting normally, additional forms of glucose such as NutriCal, Karo Syrup, others are not necessary. But if puppies don't eat well or skip meals it is certainly ok for you to provide some extra fuel for them to burn. If you notice them becoming mentally dulled, wobbly, weak, extra glucose is certainly something to try. If that doesn't work then have them evaluated by your veterinarian.
