My puppy is not feeling well. What should I do to help him right now?

Vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy are quite concerning in any dog, especially puppies because of the diseases they can get such as parvovirus. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. They would be able to check for this disease as well as checking for other possibilities such as intestinal worms or other infections. The sooner these diseases are diagnosed the better the outcome tends to be. At the very least, Gus can be started on anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea medications and his hydration status can be checked. Seeing that your puppy is quite young, it is possible that he is dealing with some infectious disease such as Parvo or Distemper. I would have him examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. The most likely diseases are as follows: 1. Parvo, a virus that primarily attacks the immune system and intestines of dogs and is very lethal if left without supportive care. 2. Intestinal parasites which can cause intestinal blockage and even anemia (depletion of red blood cells). 3. Other viruses with varying severities. This is not an exhaustive list, just the most common things for a puppy. They will all lead to dehydration and other secondary issues which can all be severe enough to cause death. Whatever the underlying disease, he looks very ill and needs attention from a veterinarian immediately. I would recommend taking him to your nearest emergency veterinary hospital as soon as possible. He may have a respiratory infection that requires an oral antibiotic for treatment. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor baby! Can you find out the name of the 80mg little blue pill? And ask if he became sick AFTER they gave it? Unfortunately the puppy needs to see a vet for an exam. I would call a local SPCA or see if your Vet has a "rainy day" type fund from anonymous donors to help people with pet care costs. Possible causes are: intestinal parasites, foreign body ingestion (needs surgery to remove something stuck), from this blue pill or toxin, parvo virus or other viral or bacterial infection, food allergy or food intolerance or a genetic problem. I would try feeding him small frequent meals of a bland diet and call your local SPCA to see if they have a low cost Veterinary clinic. I hope this helps and I wish the puppy the best!
