My puppy stopped eating and can't walk. Could it be the antibiotics?

It is possible that these symptoms are unrelated to the antibiotics, but you definitely did the right thing by stopping to give them to her. You can monitor her throughout the night, and offer water only. If you are concerned that Stormy is getting worse throughout the night, you can have her evaluated by an emergency vet. Seeing that your puppy is quite young, it is possible that he is dealing with some infectious disease such as Parvo or Distemper. I would have him examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. He may be dehydrated and have low blood sugar if he has not been eating or drinking. The sooner he is seen by a vet the better. I hope this helps and that Jack gets better soon! Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Poppy! I recommend that Poppy be seen by your Vet. Possible causes are distemper virus, a congenital abnormality, toxin ingestion, trauma or a brain issue. Hopefully this is just an injury that needs time to resolve but it is hard for me to say with out examining her or seeing a video. It may be very helpful for you to video tape an episode so your Vet can help you the best they can. I hope this helps and I wish Poppy a speedy recovery!

Poor Peedad! Being unable to stand or walk and acting disoriented are definitely not normal symptoms that could be attributed to a respiratory infection, so I would be very concerned that something more serious is going on. I would recommend taking him back to the vet right away for a recheck exam. He may need blood work or other testing to help determine what is causing these symptoms and see what can be done to treat the problem.

Unfortunately the puppy needs to see a vet for an exam. I would call a local SPCA or see if your Vet has a "rainy day" type fund from anonymous donors to help people with pet care costs. Possible causes are: intestinal parasites, foreign body ingestion (needs surgery to remove something stuck), from this blue pill or toxin, parvo virus or other viral or bacterial infection, food allergy or food intolerance or a genetic problem. I would try feeding him small frequent meals of a bland diet and call your local SPCA to see if they have a low cost Veterinary clinic. I hope this helps and I wish the puppy the best!

Hello. It often takes a bit of time for some infections to clear, but if you are concerned, please have her rechecked as soon as possible. This may be an indication that a new, or another antibiotic needs to be added to her treatment. Another option is to have her re-evaluated at a referral clinic, one that has multiple specialists. There are too many possible causes for her symptoms to narrow down without an exam. She could have ingested a toxin, have a severe infection (fungal, oral, bacterial, tick borne), be in severe pain, suffered hard or spinal trauma. There could be a regional disease that is more prevalent in the Philippines. I would have her seen by a vet as soon as possible. I wish you the best!
