Puppy not drinking water, throws up every night, vet can't find issue.

Chronic vomiting, has multiple causes but may cause an electrolyte imbalance which could account for the symptoms you are seeing. If he is drinking more water than usual, he should be seen by your vet for an exam and bloodwork to rule out kidney disease, diabetes or other GI issues. When a pet is vomiting, withhold food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice). Feed in small, frequent amounts waiting at least one hour between feedings. If he won't eat, serve the food warm or mix in a teaspoon of baby food to stimulate the appetite. If the vomiting stops, transition slowly to the regular diet. If not or if the appetite does not return, then you will need to see your veterinarian.

If he keeps it down, you can offer more water and small amount of bland food (cooked chicken or other lean meat) in the next 1-2hrs. If he is taking the food and keeping all down you should give him more every 2-3hrs. However, if Chapo continues to vomit, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment today. Vomiting in otherwise healthy dog is usually caused by stomach upset from gastrointestinal infection, inflamed pancreas, abdominal pain.

Congrats on your nephew's new puppy, but I'm sorry that Mia is sick! While puppies can have reactions to deworming treatments such as vomiting, dewormers are typically very safe. An allergic reaction to a deworming medication would be very rare. In addition, it should not still be sick from the deworming treatment days afterwards. To me, that suggests there could be something more wrong with her. Given her age, she won't be fully vaccinated, and one of the diseases I would be most concerned about is parvovirus. This is a very deadly disease of unvaccinated dogs, and it's extremely contagious. This causes vomiting, and dehydration from this vomiting will occur especially if she can't keep down water. Dehydration is the number one cause of death in these puppies. Because I can't see her in person to rule out parvovirus or another cause of the vomiting such as a GI illness, eating something rotten, or a foreign body, I do think having her seen by a vet now is for the best. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Poor piper. This sounds like she is likely drinking too much too fast. I would try to limit the amount you put in her bowl at any given time. So I would only put a small amount, let her drink that, then wait 20-30 mins then give her some more to see if this helps. If it does, then you know you have discovered the problem. If she is still vomiting up her water then I would have your vet check her out as there could be some other things going on with her like acid reflux or megaesophagus. The flatulence can be caused from gulping her food and water or from the type of food she is on and how her body digests it. You can try changing her food but make sure you mix the old food with the new food for 10 days to prevent an upset tummy. I hope this helps!

If he continues to vomit during the night tonight, or if he is acting lethargic or not wanting to eat tomorrow morning, it would be best to have him examined by a vet since these could be signs of a more serious problem.
