Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
Mucous indicated inflammation with in the colon. I would recommend having Coco examined by a Vet due to how young he is. Diarrhea in 5 week old puppies can be serious and cause decompensation and lead to dehydration and low blood sugar. He should be started on an antibiotic. At home you and start a bland diet of boiled chicken breast or hamburger mixed with rice. Also be sure he is properly dewormed. He can get his first vaccine at 7 weeks.
Causes of diarrhea in puppies are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, food allergies or intolerance, dietary indiscretion (ate something gross), toxin ingestion, other infectious causes, new food/treat/human food.
I hope this helps and I wish Coco the best!
