Why is my 16-week-old puppy licking her tail after deworming?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 29 days old

Hi, I have a 16 week old puppy and recently she keeps licking around her tail, she’s been wormed, de-flead and when she was heckled over my vet said she was very healthy I was wondering if it’s anytjing to be concerned about?

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. I would recommend bringing a fecal sample in to your vet to check for intestinal parasites. Even though she has been dewormed, the dewormer used may not have treated all intestinal parasites. This may also be a behavioral problem and an obsessive behavior. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
