My puppy licked baking soda from his fur. Is it toxic? Should I worry?

SEARCH HEALTHSHARE Please help. I rubbed a bit of baking soda on my puppy's back and tummy because he had peed on himself a lot and he had a bad odor. When I went to get a wet cloth, he was licking everywhere he can reach in his body. I tried my best to wipe him. Will this be bad for him? I read too late that baking soda can cause heart failure. Is he going to die...? Please, what can I do as aid? I stupidly gave him 1/4 a banana thinking stupidly that he will very much need potassium.

Unless you applied a huge amount of baking soda to your puppy, it is not likely that he infested enough to cause an issue. A light dusting on his fur would not be enough to be toxic. If he is acting okay, at this point I would recommend a bath. If you do not have any puppy shampoo, you can use a mild dish washing liquid soap or simply use warm water.

I don't think it will be toxic for Tosco! Flushing with water should be enough. I wouldn't give any more milk because dogs cannot digest milk like humans and it may cause vomiting or diarrhea. Oh no, that was naughty of Zeus to lick up the carpet cleaner! Given that it was diluted by water and he only had a small lick, he should be fine. Because it causes hydrogen peroxide it can cause some GI upset in the form of vomiting, and I would monitor him for now. If you do see vomiting, anorexia, or lethargy, have Zeus seen by a vet immediately for a health check.

This would definitely not be enough to cause any major problems and likely won't cause any problems at all. The few licks of diatomaceous earth should not cause any toxic effects in your husky. Some farmers actually add this to livestock or horse food! I would just monitor your dog for GI upset, but I wouldn't expect any issues from a small amount of this product.

My dog licked Bath & Body Works lotion. Is a tiny bit toxic?

The type of product is not really toxic, especially in small quantities like that. You could see some mild stomach upset or mouth irritation, but that is unlikely. You can try to squirt some water in her mouth to rinse it out. Signs of a problem would be drooling, licking lips, or wanting to eat, but I don’t feel this is likely to,happen.
