My 8-week puppy is lethargic and shaking side to side. Is it serious?

Please have Leilani seen by a vet right away. It sounds like she may be dealing with a neurologic problem, and she is likely suffering. It is difficult to give a prognosis without further diagnostics, as she could also be dealing with weakness from systemic diseases, low blood sugar, trauma, or toxin ingestion. A vet visit is needed immediately to determine the cause of his signs and guide treatment, as the prognosis could worsen drastically without treatment. All these signs are very concerning and point to a possible viral infection or metabolic disease. You need to take your dog to a veterinarian or PetER right away as he may be having a serious infection that needs to be tended to. Distemper comes to mind, a liver shunt and/or meningitis.

So, potential serious concerns would be 1. poisoning (ie antifreeze, pot, chemicals, rotten carcasses, etc.) 2. seizures (dogs get epilepsy and it commonly presents in puppies 3. metabolic issue like a liver shunt can cause neurologic symptoms 4. trauma to the brain like being hit by a car. Any neurologic symptoms are very serious and I would take him to an emergency veterinarian for a full workup.

Oh my. Poor guy. His symptoms unfortunately aren’t specific for one disease process to speak ok. Lethargy, shivering and weakness can be caused by just about any disease process including: toxin ingestion, underlying heart disease, or even anaphylactic shock is a possibility. But one thing is sure, Snoopy is in need of medical care if this has been going on for more than 6 hrs or so. He will need some diagnostic testing (bloodwork analysis to start) to determine what the underlying problem is so that we know how best to help Snoopy get better. If Peach is unable to walk, she may have either a neurologic disease (such as intervertebral disc disease or a polyneuropathy) or a musculoskeletal disease (polymyopathy, arthritis, etc) that is preventing her from wanting to stand or walk. It is not normal for dogs to not urinate at least daily. Some dogs can go a day or two without defecating, but urination should happen multiple times a day. Lack of urination can be caused by or even due to kidney disease, which can rapidly become fatal if a dog does not pass urine. I do not know of her exact clinical status, but if Peach is unable to stand or walk for weeks now, and has been lethargic and not urinating/defecating, you may have to consider her quality of life. Meaning, do you believe that Peach is enjoying each day as she should. If not, is it time to consider something like humane euthanasia. I hope this is helpful.

I'm sorry to hear that your pup isn't doing well. I recommend taking him to an emergency clinic right away for evaluation. His blood sugar could be low, he could have a liver issue that is allowing toxins to build up in his system, he could have a congenital issue with his digestive tract, or something else entirely. His vet will likely do an exam, draw a bit of blood, and maybe take x-rays. I hope he's feeling better soon!

Oh my, poor Emma sounds quite ill! She could have gotten into something toxic, may have eaten something rotten, or could have a severe GI illness among other causes. Given that she is very lethargic and cold, she needs to see a vet immediately for treatment. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms, and can treat her for them. Please take Bella into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.
