Why is my new 12-week-old puppy lethargic and not eating?

She is a large breed growing puppy so they often go through spurts of sleepiness where they may not eat as much of their food. With that said, this should then be followed by a spurt of activeness and engorging in her food, within a 24 hr period. If she is lethargic and not eating well for more than a day, then she may have an infection and should be checked out by your vet asap. Pets also don't often pee on themselves, even at this age. This concerns me for a possible urinary tract infection, which causes her to have an inflamed bladder, which then causes her to not be able to pee in a designated area. At almost 3 months of age though, she may still be potty training. At any rate, it is best to get her seen with such vague symptoms, just to make sure she doesn't have an infection and to get her treated right away if there is one present. It is very concerning when a puppy who is 2 lbs isn't feeling well. It can take time for puppies to adjust to their new surroundings but I don't like how she is very lethargic and vomited. Puppies can become hypoglycemic (low glucose) and can actually have seizures from this. I would recommend bringing Bella to a veterinarian as soon as possible to make sure she is ok. If Mojo is lethargic and not wanting to eat, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Decreased appetite is concerning in a puppy because of the potential very serious gastrointestinal infections such as parvovirus that they can get. Monitor him closely for progression of his already decreased appetite, nausea (which may manifest as drooling, decreased appetite and lip smacking), vomiting, severe lethargy and/or diarrhea. If any of these signs are observed, have him evaluated right away. I think that if he is otherwise doing fine, then it is ok to monitor him for now. If he has not improved by tomorrow, then have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Make sure that he is drinking water to avoid dehydration. Good luck! It does appear the Mia may be feeling it a bit off, but I wouldn't get too worried just yet. It could be the weather if it's warm where you are, so she could be generally unwell. Given that she did eat and had some water, I wouldn't take her into a vet just yet. Keep an eye on her over the weekend, and if she's still acting off on Monday, then have her seen by a vet on Monday. If she develops other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, stops eating, and/or stops drinking, then I would be worried and bring her into a vet sooner. I hope this helps and she feels better soon!

Puppies do sleep quite a bit, so as long as she has a good appetite & there is no vomiting or diarrhea, then she will be fine to wait for your appointment where she will receive a good exam to make sure she is perfectly healthy. HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She is very cute! I think if she is sleepy a lot and that is abnormal and it has been 2 days that she should see a Veterinarian for a physical exam. Causes of not eating are:intestinal parasites, foreign body ingestion, viral infections, toxin ingestion or other more regional diseases. I wouldn't want her to go much longer without eating.
