Puppy hit in face. Why is he suddenly lethargic and not eating?

I always advise that if an abnormal sign or behavior persists, worsens or other signs develop to always have your pet evaluated by your veterinarian right away. The fall may have caused some soft tissue/bone injuries or even internal injuries that are causing her problems. Also, she could be suffering from something unrelated to the fall. Your vet can examine her after gathering a history and then advise you on diagnostics/treatment. Possible tests include fecal/blood/urine tests and x-rays. Good luck

The lethargy is the most worrying sign in my opinion and should be ideally checked as soon as possible as could be secondary to the presence of head trauma. Neurological and physical examinations are necessary to confirm or rule out this clinical suspicion and treat appropriately. If Mojo is lethargic and not wanting to eat, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. You should get your dog to a vet immediately for a thorough examination as there may have been some serious damage done that is not obvious. Hopefully not and it is just the development of some muscle pain etc but at the very least the vet will be able to give some pain relief, alongside peace of mind.

He may not be eating due to dietary indiscretion from eating the bird or mouse or it could even be due to a gastrointestinal obstruction. I am afraid that if he is not drinking water he may be becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and most importantly start him on medications to make him feel better. I would be concerned that Bell hasn't returned to normal after 12-24 hours. While heat injury is possible usually dogs have issues sooner than now such as seizures, diarrhea, bruising and/or collapse. She could have a problem with her GI tract, something stuck in her esophagus or even a respiratory issues causing her changes. If she continues to cough, seems lethargic/lack of energy, or has any vomiting, diarrhea or continues to have a decreased appetite today she needs to be seen by a veterinarian. I would try calling your veterinarian today as they sometimes have an oncall service or an emergency veterinarian on call to answer questions as well.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! While this can be due to the move, I am suspicious that this could also be something else as it has been a bit longer than expected. Loss of appetite and lethargy can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Ginger evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam.
