What food and supplements help my small puppy grow after anemia?

I’m glad to hear Max has recovered! Parvo can affect the overall adult size but feeding him a proper diet will help to counteract its effects. You should feed him a large breed puppy food but do not give him any supplements. Large breed puppy foods are fortified with the proper amount of calcium, phosphorus and protein. Providing additional calcium and phosphorus can actually hurt his bone structure and cause severe growth abnormalities. Omega-3 fatty acids for dogs are fine to supplement with and this will help to decrease any inflammation in his body and also improve the coat and skin health. The foods I recommend are: Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy. This is my favorite diet for German Shepherd‘s as it is formulated to meet their growth needs and also takes into account their sensitive digestive systems. Purina Pro Plan large breed puppy formula. I would say Pedigree is the best for Zara. Be sure to feed her a puppy formulated food, as puppies need higher amounts of calcium, protein, and calories than adult dogs. A puppy food will provide that for it, as well as all the nutrients she needs to grow correctly and be healthy. She does NOT need any medicines, her puppy food will give her what she needs. Adding additional medications with her food can abnormally affect her growth, i.e. too much calcium leads to bone growth abnormalities. As for weight, each puppy grows differently even within a breed, so it's not really possible to say her perfect bodyweight. At four months of age, she should be roughly half of her adult weight, and female German Shepherds can weigh between 48.5-70.5 pounds when fully grown. I hope this helps!

Hello. This may be a pretty low quality food. And adding unnecessary supplements may do more harm than good. It is not a good idea as this food is for giant breeds and specifically formulated to keep them from growing too fast. This will not help your puppy recuperate. Your puppy needs the proper food for either German Shepherd puppies or for large breed puppies.

Hello. Good care is all you can do for Kyra. At 2 months of age, she still has the potential to reach her potential maximum growth. Feed her the best large breed puppy food you can purchase. Do not supplement her with any vitamins or minerals. Deworm her based on a veterinarian's analysis of her stool & make sure she receives all appropriate vaccinations at the appropriate times. I would actually recommend weaning Tobi onto a puppy wet food. he is old enough to do a transition to puppy food. If you do this then you do not need to add in supplements. We typically do not recommend cows milk or cerelac for dogs. If you wanted to still give a type of milk then you can do a puppy milk replacer but again he is old enough to wean off of this. It is never recommended to give puppies multi vitamins and calcium supplements. This will affect Fang's growth adversely, and it is not needed. A good quality puppy food will provide all the nutrients he needs. I also advise again feeding him Orijen. It's grain free, and vets are seeing a link between dogs developing dilated cardiomyopathy who are on grain free diets. The FDA is now investigating that link. Grain free food is a fad, grains are actually good for dogs. I'd feed him a puppy food from brands such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. I hope this helps!
