Can my 3-month-old puppy start eating rice, veggies, or eggs?

You could add some meat or chicken to your puppies dog food but your puppy needs to have some dog food because it is nutritionally balanced for a puppy. Feeding just meat/ chicken and rice is not recommended because your puppy would not be getting the proper nutrition. Congratulations on adding the puppies to your family! The main food for the puppies should be an AAFCO certified puppy food. These diets are fortified and so they contain to proper amounts of Calcium, Phosphorus, protein and other essential components for proper growth and development. I recommend to look for well known brands with good reputations like Royal Canin, Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Nutro or Purina. Hi there. It should be fine to start feeding Blacky a home-cooked diet now, if you want to - you'll just need to make sure that it's nutritionally complete and balanced for growing puppies. I would recommend using either www.balanceit.com or www.petdiets.com to put together appropriate recipes for him.

This would not be a complete diet for Peanut and would not meet all her nutritional needs. I'd recommend a high quality dog food like Hill's Science Diet or Royal Canin. Hello. At this age, a puppy should be fed 3 times a day with limited treats. You can transition him to twice a day feedings somewhere between 16 - 20 weeks of age. As long as the food you choose is a well-balanced puppy food, such as Science Diet, Royal Canin or Purina, you can continue to feed Roman the canned, or a combination of canned & dry. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Goodness Paddy is super cute! I would cut out the egg. We want growing puppies to eat the puppy food and get the nutrients they need. Dogs are smart and will pick out the parts they want. If you want to add egg to the diet do it less often (1-2 times per week). I think 3 times a day feeding is as much as you should do and I would only do it until 12-14 weeks of age then do twice s day feeding. From your pictures he looks to be a healthy weight. You can add water or a little bit of canned puppy food to the dry to encourage him to eat it. He also may not need as much as you are offering. The bag is good place to find out how much to feed but if the puppy is to think give more or too fat give less. I wish you all the best!
