Can my new puppy get distemper even after I cleaned the house?

  It can survive a while but Paramyxoviruses are enveloped and are quite susceptible to detergents and most disinfectants so routine cleaning is sufficient.
  Accelerated peroxide cleaners and Quaternary ammonium products are both also effective.

  I am sorry for the loss of your pup. You are correct, the distemper virus is not as hardy as parvovirus. It will typically be deactivated in several hours but can last a few weeks given the proper conditions.
  You should still clean and sanitize before introducing a new puppy. Clean all visible organic matter (vomit, feces, etc.) with plain water. You can use a disinfectant specifically for distemper. Read labels carefully. A 1:30 bleach solution can be used on hard, non porous surfaces. Allow a 10-20 minute wet contact time before wiping up. Wash all bowls and toys in a dishwasher. Disposing of bedding is recommended.

  I will definitely not recommend bringing in a new puppy unless this puppy is already fully vaccinated, if he isn't you will be taking a chance. the virus can survive in the environment for several months, all the surfaces in the house should be disinfected but most importantly the surfaces where the puppy could have been in contact with.

  One of the few positive aspects of distemper is that the virus cannot live without fresh secretions; it is inactivated in minutes outside the living host's body. Minimal disinfection is necessary. A recovered dog may shed virus up to 2 to 3 months.
