My puppy has Corona, symptoms not improving after 2 days. What to do?

This means that if the puppy is otherwise healthy, the puppy's immune system will take care of the infection. There is not a specific treatment for the virus, just supportive care. This means keeping him hydrated and using medications from his veterinarian to control any vomiting and diarrhea. Most puppies make a full recovery. I hope this information helps!

Hello. Please, please, please, see your veterinarian. Your older pup has a good chance of survival with the right treatment. This does not automatically mean hospitalization, many of these pups can be treated at home with the right instructions, medications, fluids, etc. But you do want to have the pup examined so that you know what you need to do at home. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. If your puppy is not improving after being on medications for a week or is worsening, I would schedule a recheck with your vet. Sometimes switching to a different antibiotic may help. The particular antibiotic that your puppy is on may also cause growth defects, but this is rarely seen. I typically use Clavamox or doxycycline for Respiratory bugs in puppies. Another alternative treatment your vet might consider, is initiating nebulization therapy to help relieve some of the symptoms your puppy is experiencing. If your dog does not start showing improvement after 48 hours of being on the medication and/or if his symptoms persist, then you should take him back to your veterinarian for a recheck. He may need additional diagnostics like blood work, X-rays, and/or a parvo test (depending on his vaccination status). He may also need supportive care like nausea medication and fluid therapy. I would strongly recommend to have her checked by your local veterinarian as soon as possible as antibiotic treatment combined with supportive and nutritional therapy are required. It is best to be quite aggressive in terms of treatment to fight immediately against the infection. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Parvovirus is a severe gastroenteritis that affect puppies more often. This is a viral infection so there is no direct treatment for the virus so the treatment per se is directed at treating secondary bacterial infections and mostly helping with the clinical symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and inappetence. This warrants ideally hospitalization with some cases being able to be managed with outpatient care depending on its severity. I recommend that you follow up with a veterinarian who can institute therapy for Loki as soon as possible. The quicker this condition gets treated the better the outcome tends to be. Good luck!
