My puppy has coronavirus. How can I make him comfortable at home?

Hello. I am sorry your puppy is sick. Do not give anything raw as he is already immunocompromised. It sounds like he needs to be in hospital on IV fluids. I would take him to your vet. Chicken broath is ok.

This is a viral infection so there is no direct treatment for the virus so the treatment per se is directed at treating secondary bacterial infections and mostly helping with the clinical symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and inappetence. This warrants ideally hospitalization with some cases being able to be managed with outpatient care depending on its severity. I recommend that you continue to follow up with a veterinarian who can institute therapy for Cleo as soon as possible. The quicker this condition gets treated the better the outcome tends to be. Most of the time treatment is not needed. This has been a long standing viral infection and is not new. The virus affecting humans in the news is an emerging strain of the virus. Sadly puppies needs a lot of supportive care to be able to pull through Parvovirus infection. Sometimes even with all the necessary care, they don’t make it.I t depends also on Walker ‘s immune system and how strong he is but he should really have at least intravenous fluids and antisickness medications. Poor guy. A puppy this young with a cough should not be given or attempted to do home treatments because you will only prolong his treatment and put him at risk for developing pneumonia. Romi needs to be seen by your local vet for antibiotic treatment because he likely has an upper respiratory infection which is caused by a multi-factorial bacterial infection. He should feel better within 48-72 hrs of starting appropriate treatment, so please take him in as soon as possible.
