My 3-month-old puppy gets car sick. How can I help them feel better?

You can try giving Dramamine which is available over the counter, however it is not specifically labeled to use in dogs, and it is not effective for all dogs. There are medications that can be given to dogs to help with car sickness. Letting your vet know that Coco gets car sick is best as they can provide you with a prescription or the correct dose of an over the counter medication to help. Usually, you'll give it about 30-60m before the car ride. Making sure Coco has a place where she can lay down and relax comfortably may help as well.

I would not recommend you give anything. She will be too small to take any over the counter medications. She will likely be just fine. The best thing to do is to put her in a kennel and let her sleep. If you guys are getting her overly excited and you let her run around the vehicle you have a higher chance that she will get sick. If she does get sick just clean it up and keep her calm and quiet. I'm sorry to hear that Cooper gets car sick - that's no fun for anyone! Hands down, the best anti-nausea medication for dogs is a prescription medication called Cerenia. Benadryl is an antihistamine that can be mildly sedating for some dogs, but it very rarely helps with vomiting and nausea from motion sickness. Children and adult Dramamine have different active ingredients. The dimenhydrinate in the adult form of Dramamine can be helpful with motion sickness in dogs, but it is generally less effective than Cerenia and has more possible side effects. Likewise, at only 10 pounds, Cooper is simply too tiny to be able to accurately split a Dramamine tablet into an appropriate dose. I would strongly recommend asking your vet about prescribing Cerenia. I hope that everything goes well!

I would recommend asking your vet about a drug called 'maropitant' or Cerenia. This is the best drug for dogs for car sickness. Alternatively Ondasetron can be used, however it might be hard to get a tablet small enough for Fiona. Best of luck with Fiona, I hope your car trip goes well.

Try feeding her some ginger capsules, that usually takes away the nausea. And when you are not on a trip, start getting her used to driving in the car. Feed her in the car, go on 3-5 minute drives, slowly extending the time. This usually helps getting the dog used to being on a trip.
