Why is my 8-week puppy breathing fast, not moving, and tongue out?

Hello. It sounds like Mac is very sick. If he is breathing fast this could be trouble in his lungs, pain, toxins, or many other concerns. I would get him to a veterinarian right away as any breathing trouble in a dog, and especially a puppy, is a very big concern. He could have heat stroke, could have ingested a toxin, could have had a trauma (if he goes out unsupervised), could have severe abdominal pain or gastritis. I hope he feels better soon.

I would recommend bringing him in for an exam. Sometimes rapid breathing can be a sign of discomfort or illness. It is possible he may need a few rounds of deworming, or could have an infection and associated fever. Either way, around 8 weeks is when he should be getting his first round of vaccines and an exam, so I would simply talk to your veterinarian at that appointment.

If Korra is completely asleep and not dreaming, then 96 breaths per minute is very abnormal, and I would recommend that she be seen by a vet immediately. Possible causes for lethargy and increased breathing in a puppy include pneumonia, infection, anemia, intestinal parasites, among a few other causes. After examination, the vet may recommend bloodwork and/or x-rays to see what could be going on. It can be very hard to guess what breed a puppy is since they don't yet have the adult characteristics. If I had to guess I would think some shepherding breed, like Australian Shepherd or Border Collie.

8 weeks is the time for a first puppy exam and having the first course of puppy vaccinations. Looking a bit bloated is a possible sign or intestinal parasites (all puppies have them) and therefore it is also time to worm your puppy. When you take him to your vet for first shots, he will worm the puppy as well.

Poor Treasure! It could be that she is in pain or she could be very sick. It's quite concerning that such a young puppy is breathing fast, not moving, not eating, drinking, or peeing. These symptoms in such a young dog are a medical emergency, and she has to see a vet immediately. She needs veterinary care now to diagnose what is causing these symptoms so she can be treated. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Mama! She is super cute! I would take Mama to an Emergency hospital and have her looked at as soon as you can. Anytime there is concern for breathing it could be life threatening, especially if she is also weak. Puppies can suffer from low blood sugar which can make them weak. The fast breathing could be from a fever, pneumonia, or pain. The distended belly may or may not be related. She could just have worms. The best thing for Mama is to have a Vet do an exam.
