Why is my healthy 9-month-old lab puppy barely eating her food?

As long as Jacky is not sick and is otherwise normal, I would recommend switching to a different food altogether and consider canned food as well. If you still find he has a picky appetite, I would recommend adding chicken breast or broth to his current diet and see if this helps increase his appetite. I hope this helps! At 75days of age, she is old enough to just be on a high quality kibble puppy food. There are many great foods available out there. Avoid grain free unless its verified that she has an allergy to grain. If she seems "not as healthy," though, get her in to the vet for an exam. It is very difficult to diagnose him over the internet. If he is weak, he may need IV fluids and medications to make him feel better. Once a vet performs an exam, they will be able to guide you to the next steps in diagnosing and treating his problems. If Lucille is still interested in food, drinking water, and not vomiting or diarrhea, I would continue to monitor her for another 24 hours. I would see a vet if the lethargy and decrease appetite continues. She could be coming down with something and may get worse, or getting over something and bounce back. The eating of mud and poop is likely behavioral and you can try and use products like Forbid and bitter apple to help prevent Lucy from eating these things. Try different sized kibble with the dog food and you can even add in chicken broth or pieces of cooked chicken breast. I hope this helps! Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Rocco! I do not think him being neutered 6 months ago has anything to do with a poor appetite and lethargy. the heat can make dogs slow down but it doesn't make Labs not eat! Labs love food. I am worried and recommend you have him seen by your Vet for an exam, blood work and belly X-rays. Possible causes are: kidney problems secondary to Lyme disease (huge issue in US with labs, even young ones), ate something causing a blockage, cancer and many other things. I would take him in since it has been a few weeks. I wish you the best!

She may get used to the pool over time and use it more but she may just not be interested. As for the abnormal ingestion of stones, leaves, etc. I would recommend having a hose handy and whenever she goes to eat the stones or leaves, spray her with the hose and say "off!" to deter her from doing this further.
