My puppy ate tiny beads or beets. What should I do? Symptoms?

You cannot know if the puppy ate these objects without a radiograph and even then, it may be difficult to see. You should be checking the stool for evidence of the beads. It is very important to keep these objects away from your puppy since they could damage the intestines. Monitor your puppy very closely for vomiting, not eating well, acting lethargic or diarrhea. I recommend to call your veterinarian today. They may want to examined your puppy and take radiographs. I hope this helps.

Hello Joy, Unfortunately, there is no way for us to tell you if she will pass these parts with no problem. There are too many variables involved. Some dogs do pass these things and sometimes they get stuck in the GI tract somewhere. I suggest you have her to your vet for an exam. That is your best option. They can x-ray her and see if there are any abnormal items in her stomach. If you don't want to take her in now, then monitor her closely for: * not eating * vomiting * lethargy If any of those are noticed she needs to see a vet ASAP.

A tiny piece of plastic like this is unlikely to cause any problems with Ella. You can monitor her for signs of GI obstruction which would include vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, and lethargy. If these occur, then she should see her vet right away, but I don't expect that to occur with the small amounts she may have ingested, they will likely just pass through her GI tract. You can feed her something high in fiber to help the passing, such as a piece of whole wheat bread or a teaspoon or two of canned pumpkin.

If you see any of these symptoms in the next 24-48hrs, you should take Rayne to your local vets as an emergency. However, if she chewed the plastic into small pieces, most likely she will pass it with her stools and she will not show any worrying symptoms at all.
