It sounds like you've done a good job disinfecting your home - if the new pup is finished with her vaccinations, the risk should be minimal. To be safe, you could certainly try and keep her in the areas of your home where your previous puppy never spent time or used the bathroom. But from what you've said here, it seems unlikely that Kiki would get sick - the parvo vaccine is usually very effective, so most cases that I see are in unvaccinated pups.

No one can guarantee you that the new puppies will not get parvo. Unfortunately, parvo is very hardy and will live in the environment for a long time. It is difficult to to kill. Unless you used bleach then you probably didn't kill the virus. Honestly, if you had posted before you got the new puppies we would have told you not to do it. We would have recommended that you not bring any dogs into the household until they have been fully vaccinated at the appropriate intervals - so that would be a minimum of a 16 week old puppy. Locking your puppies in the crate for months is cruel in my opinion and not recommended. There is always some risk. Parvovirus lives in the environment for 5+ years so you can bring it home on your shoes any day. Certainly on areas where dogs defecate there can be a higher possibility if virus present, but as long as you are vaccinating at 3-4 week intervals then you are providing the best immunity possible. If you can't get her to go inside, you can take her outside and use a pad under her. Try to use an area with a hard surface as opposed to grass or soil in case she misses the pad. A hard surface is easier to decontaminate than grass or soil. After she is done, you can sanitize the surface using a diluted bleach solution. If she will go inside, use the pads and dispose of them accordingly afterwards.

Parvo virus is press in the fecal content. So wherever the last puppy went to the. Athroom isbwhere it will be the worst, outside is usually the hard part. From there if you touch it or step in the affected areas it can travel anywhere on your clothes or shoes. If you changed the carpet and disinfected all the surfaces, then It should not be in the new carpet. Vaccines can be started at 6 weeks but if he has had no shots then start him right away and get it boostered every 2-3 weeks for protection

Hello. The biggest concern would be Parvo, but this is usually a very easy disease to screen for. Without knowing how old you other dog was, what diagnostics were run & treatments started, I cannot comment on why she died. As for a new puppy, they are all vulnerable to disease until they receive all of their puppy series at 8, 12 & 16 weeks of age. You may want to restrict the new puppy to an area of the yard not generally used previously & limit time outside. Keep the puppy away from any public areas, clean up after everyone defecates & I think all will be OK. I am sorry for your loss but hope the new puppy brings you many years of happiness. Im so sorry for your loss. I would recommend getting Zowie vaccinated asap. She may have been exposed but vaccination may stimulate her immune system. Parvo can live in the soil for years so if that was the case be aware that any future puppies could be at risk. Your pup may have also had intestinal parasites or another disease. I recomend Zowie getting a full check up and parasite exam as well as vaccines to be safe. Clorox will kill parvo virus on hard surfaces. So mopping tile floors or cleaning dog kennels with Clorox helps.
