Why does my pug's stomach skin get darker in summer and lighter in winter?

This looks like hyperpigmentation. It typically occurs in lightly pigmented, sparsely haired regions as dogs get older. It can also be caused my inflammation so just make sure she is not spending too much time sunbathing and that there are no other signs like licking/scratching/lesions. The pictures look like it could just be normal pigment change. As puppies mature their pigmentation can as well. If the skin is raised, thicker, crusty, or itchy then I would be concerned. If you have any concerns then I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian. If there is a concern then a biopsy could easily be done at the time of his neuter. Thank you for asking the question about Harley. If she is not itchy then it may just be pigment change to her skin. Lots of breeds can have changes to their skin and Hair coat as they mature. If you happen to have before and after pictures to post in another question that may be helpful. Is she is itchy, or the skin has wounds or crusting then she should be evaluated by a veterinarian. I would recommend reverting to his original food or a hypoallergenic diet and adding some omega fatty acids to promote skin repair and regeneration. If the diet has triggered these symptoms, they should regress over 6-8weeks. If he develops severe itching, antiinflammatory sprays or gels may be required from your vet. Seasonal allergies are also very common at this time of year and tend to develop in younger dogs (usually between 6mths and 3 yrs for first symptoms)

Hyperpigmentation of the skin is common with age where there is no overlying hair. It can also be caused by skin irritation/infections but if there are no lesions or symptoms it is likely normal. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Daisy. She appears to have normal pigment variations on her abdomen for her breed. If one isolated area becomes very dark or she develops a raised mass, she will need to see her veterinarian. Otherwise, I cannot make out anything abnormal from your pictures. This can be caused by various reasons such as fleas, mites ,fungal infection, bacterial infection and allergies. the first 4 needs to be ruled out before we start treating for allergies. in order to do that first de-flea Charlie with a high quality flea treatment such as advantage spot on, if it doesn't help - take him to the vet in order to check for/treat the other possibilities. If everything is ruled out, then an allergy treatment can be started. Usually an hypoallergenic food is a good way to start together with anti histamines. if it doesn't help - the best solution is a medication called Apoquel which treats allergies with great success and without side effects.
