My pug puppy has a stomach lump and stool issues. What's next?

I am very sorry to hear about your puppy, it sounds like he is getting progressively worse so he definitely needs some additional testing/diagnostics. I cannot tell from your question whether he had x-rays or they just recommended them, but he definitely needs some x-rays and bloodwork at this point, and potentially an ultrasound of the abdomen depending on their findings. A large belly in a puppy is typically going to be caused by either a severe intestinal parasite problem or an underlying congenital heart defect which is causing ascites. These are two very different diagnoses, therefore you will have to get Nikko examined b your vet to determine which is likely the cause. Unfortunately, Spot really should be seen by a veterinarian. If it is an abscess, that is one serious infection that needs to be addressed. It could also be a severe hernia. The swelling may be caused by loops of bowel that have slipped through a defect in the muscle wall. This will require surgery to repair. If left untreated, it is possible the bowel could become twisted or strangulated which would be an emergency and potentially life threatening.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear that Kan is having a problem. This could be tricky but the next step would be a CT scan or MRI Scan. Not sure if ultrasound would be helpful but maybe. A fine needle biopsy or aspirate of the mass or a surgical biopsy would hopefully be able to obtain some tissue from the mass to determine what it is. I cannot make out much on the xrays due to the quality over the internet. Possibilities of a mass always fall into some broad categories including an abscess (pus filled pocket from infection), a granuloma or collection of inflammatory cells), a seroma of fluid fulled sac, a hematoma or pocket of blood, or a tumor which could be benign (not cancer) or malignant (cancer). Kan is very young to have a tumor but it must be on the differential list. What else could it be? A very congested lung lobe from multiple things, a lung lobe torsion where a lobe of the lung turns on it's axis and is out of place, an area of calcification, etc. I hope this helps and I hope Kan does really well for you. Luma could have an umbilical hernia. This is an opening in muscles wall located where the umbilical cord was previously attached. Typically these need to be corrected surgically and it can be done at the same time as when you get him neutered. It's never recommended to breed a dog who has had an umbilical hernia because there they are inherited. I would have Luma seen by a vet either tomorrow given this bump is large. The vet can diagnose if it is an umbilical hernia and can discuss when surgery should be done to fix it. I hope this helps!

This lump/growth should be ideally examined by your veterinarian to have a definitive diagnosis. Your vet will examine it and possibly perform with an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy. I recommend to have Muffin examined. Something is obviously happening internally that is making her uncomfortable. This could be many things including gas, pancreatitis or a back issue. After a physical exam, the vet will get a better idea of what may or may not be happening and then can figure out a game plan. I hope this helps.
