What are the best probiotic dog treats for my dog's gut health?

This answer partially depends on what the problem is. However, the most common thing we will recommend for GI health is probiotics (often in conjunction with pre-biotics). Probiotics are the good bacteria in the GI tract that help it stay healthy. There are a number of products on the market. Some are more complete than others. Forti-Flora (made by Purina) is approved for use in pets with food allergies. Although it is beef-flavored, the flavoring is made from a hydrolyzed protein that cannot trigger any allergic response - so this is my usual "go-to" probiotic choice for a pet with allergies like this.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I don't think cats or dogs need probiotics if they are healthy. I do like them for gastro-intestinal issues. I like Purina Fortiflora, you can find it online. Cats really like it. If you want to use probiotics in a healthy cat it won't hurt them. I hope this helps!

Regarding probiotics, Purina's Forti Flora is very good. Pets with pancreatitis also benefit from a special low fat diet. The brand Royal Canin makes a food for pets with pancreatitis called Low Fat and it's only 7% fat (for comparison, a normal fat content for normal food is about 25% though this varies brand to brand). If the diarrhea doesn't improve in a couple of days on a probiotic I recommend that you take Nino to the Vet.
