My pregnant dog is leaving wet spots. Is this a sign of labor?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 3 months old | 65 lbs

My dog is 60 days pregnant, every time she sits or lays down I notice she leaves a wet spot in whatever spot she was previously laying or sitting. Should I be concerned?

Hello, sorry to hear about Xena. She may be going into labor soon. Monitor her for any signs of labor without producing any puppies as this could indicate that she is having a dystocia. Signs may include lethargy, panting, vocalizing, pain, and eventually dullness. Otherwise, ensure Xena has a padded area that is warm and dry for her to deliver her puppies. Best of luck and hope this helps.
