Is yellow milk normal for my pregnant dog? Why can't I feel puppies?
Hello, sometimes milk may look a little opaque, but it should not look completely yellow. Signs of an infection would include dark colored mammary glands that are painful, firm, and warm to the touch. If any of these are noted, then Lucy should be seen immediately by her veterinarian.
You may be able to feel puppies towards the end of the pregnancy, but most often they are difficult to feel as they are surrounded by placental fluid. An much more accurate way to detect puppies is with an x-ray or even an ultrasound.
Have Lucy evaluated by her veterinarian to make sure that she does not have an infection of her mammary glands and/or to check for how many puppies she is carrying. Hope this helps and best of luck.
