My pregnant dog is leaking dark green fluid. Labor or emergency?

Mykka is 57 days pregnant and is leaking a dark green fluid is she in labour or is it something that I should be worried about

If Mykka is 57 days pregnant, she should be very close to giving birth since normal gestation in dogs is generally 57-63 days from the breeding date. If the green fluid is thin and watery, it may be normal discharge signifying that she will be starting labor soon. If it's thick and very dark green, then this is more concerning - usually this indicates a placental separation, which can be dangerous for her and the babies if she isn't quite ready to whelp yet. I would recommend having her checked by a vet as soon as possible - he/she can ultrasound the puppies and check fetal heart rates to see if any of them are in distress or if there are any problems with the appearance of the uterus. Depending on what is found, she may need close observation for the next few days, or an emergency c-section.

Hi there, I assume Layla is pregnant and the fluid is from her vulva? The green fluid is a concern for me because it is usually from the placenta which has separated. I would take her to your vet today to have an exam and decide if she's having a problem with labor. If she's about due to give birth, your vet may suggest a c section to try to deliver live pups. Don't wait this one out, take her in as soon as you can. Good luck!

Take Yemyem into a vet now. Dark green discharge with no puppies indicates premature separation of the placenta. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. This is a medical emergency and Isis has to see a vet now. This green fluid indicates premature separation of the placenta, so for the life of her and her puppies, she needs veterinary treatment now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. It could be normal discharge. I would not be concerned about it if she is still acting normal and eating and drinking ok. We only get alarmed if we see green or black discharge (which could indicate placental rupture). Dog in labor, green discharge, puppies dying. What should I do?

It's normal to see some green discharge after puppies are born, but if the discharge comes before the puppies are being born, that can be a sign of a premature placental separation. It's quite concerning that the puppies are dying. They are extremely fragile creatures, and unfortunately some don't make it, but if all of them are dying, that suggestions something seriously wrong. I would take the mother and the puppies into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see them now.

Oh goodness. Dark green discharge can absolutely indicate fetal distress. Bulldogs rarely have their puppies without c-section. This could be a life threatening situation for Angel and her puppies. Please have her seen by a veterinarian immediately. Be prepared for a recommendation for a c-section. Yes I would be concerned about River. While it is normal to see a greenish discharge after puppies are born, having it before puppies can indicate premature separation of the placenta. It's also concerning that two hours have passed since this sac broke and there is no sign of puppies. Boston Terriers frequently have problems giving birth and often require c sections to give birth safely. River needs veterinary attention now. Pregnant dog leaking fluid for hours, no puppies. Is it miscarriage?

This may be a sign of miscarriage. If no puppies are seen in the next 1 hour an immediate check up would be required. Immediate check up would be needed as well if the fluid she is passing is very cloudy or green or bloody.
