My 7-week pregnant dog has brownish red discharge. Is it normal?

It could be normal discharge. I would not be concerned about it if she is still acting normal and eating and drinking ok. We only get alarmed if we see green or black discharge (which could indicate placental rupture). Any discharge when pregnant is concerning and i would recommend a vet check as soon as possible to rule out infection or early labor/puppy loss. The lameness may or may not be related and should also be assessed, to minimise pain and discomfort.

Some discharge can be normal during pregnancy, but the best thing to do is to take her to a vet who deals with canine reproduction for a full exam. I would do a vaginal cytology and/or culture to see if the discharge is normal, and take xrays or do an abdominal ultrasound to see how far along she is and to make sure the feti look normal, and that there is no sign of gas in the uterus which can indicate dead puppies. She should be far enough along to see heartbeats and count a heart rate on the puppies, which is the best indication of puppy health. It could be normal as long as it has no smell to it, there's no blood in it, and it isn't green or brown. Without seeing Eva in person, I can't say for certain. Have her seen by a vet for it to be safe.

Hello. This is a normal discharge called lochia. It is the remains of the uterine lining being expelled & this may continue for up to 12 weeks after a bitch gives birth. I'm concerned that Coco is having this heavy discharge and this may not be normal. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I'd have her seen by a vet now for this to make sure everything is ok.
