Potty training a 5-month-old puppy while at work with other dogs?

If your Siberian is as young as the information states, he is far too young to be away from his mom and littermates. Puppies learn valuable socialization lessons from their siblings during the time from five to eight weeks of age. If possible, please reunite him with his canine family until he is at least eight weeks old. Yes, it is cruel to keep such a very young puppy confined for long periods of time. I usually recommend that people who work all day get an older dog rather than a puppy. It does sound like Bella was holding it in the whole time, and six hours is too long to leave a three month old puppy without a potty break. She needs to be let out to go potty at least once every three hours. You can still put her in the crate while you are gone, but I would come back if you can every three hours to let her out, or you can hire someone to let her out every three hours. As she grows, she won't need to be let out every three hours, and by the time she is six months old, she could hold it for up to six hours, so having someone come by is only a short term thing. Crate training is an effective way to potty train a dog, and I do recommend it. I will give you my method for potty training Bella when you are home with her: Start by keeping your puppy on a regular feeding schedule, and taking away her food between meals. Take her out to potty first thing every morning, and once every 30 minutes to an hour. Always make sure she goes out after meals, first thing when she wakes up from a nap, last thing before bedtime at night, and right before you leave the house. Take her to the same spot each time to go potty. Her scent there will encourage her to go. Stay with her outside each time she goes to potty, at least until she is fully house trained. As long as you are providing the puppy with a place to sleep, plenty of water and toys you should be ok to leave him for 3-5 hours with no problem. You can even look into the PetCube to interact with him remotely when you are not physically there. They are adorable! At four months of age, 10 hours is too long for Coco and Chaz to stay in their crate. Their bladder isn't big enough to hold their urine that long, and they should be let out to potty every three to four hours. I would consider hiring someone to stop by at least once or twice a day to let them out to potty if you can't leave work to let them out. Dogs should be in crates no longer than eight hours, even if they are older. I hope this helps!

It allows you to keep an eye on her for signs that she has to go potty, and will teach her to hold it until you put her outdoors. The crate needs to be big enough for her to stand up, turn around, and lie down, but it should not be big enough for her to go potty in.

Four months is a very young age still and one where I wouldn't expect Fendi to be completely potty trained. That said, she should still be able to hold it about an hour or two, and if she can't, then scheduling a vet visit to make sure there isn't a health issue related first is a good idea. If she checks out healthy, sticking to a strict potty training routine is best. This means going out every 1-2 hours, after waking, eating, drinking, playing, etc to give her opportunities to go outside. If she is pottying in her kennel, it may be too big for her (it should be just big enough to comfortably lay down and turn around in, but not so big she can potty on one side and lay on the other.) Blocking off the house so she has limited access and limited chance to have an accident can also help.
