Can Petco provide my new puppy's missing vaccination records?

If you want her shot records, you will need to have your friend call the Petco where they were done, and they can provide them for you. Yes they will give all the vaccinations he needs at PetCo. He will need two more sets of booster shots to be fully protected. They will give you a schedule for his booster vaccinations and discuss flea, tick and heartworm products if they are recommended in your area. You can also get a microchip at PetCo. As far as the papers to show his breed ask your friend if they have some from the breeder. You don’t need any papers though to get him examined and vaccinated. If you need proof of vaccination, you should contact the clinic that saw your pet directly. They may have sent information about each visit that your puppy has been to at the clinic to your email. If you need documentation- visit the clinic that examined and vaccinated your puppy. Thank you

Hi Sayra, Unless Dylan received his vaccinations at one of our VETCO clinics we cannot give you any records. The records must come from the veterinarian/veterinary clinic that administered the vaccinations. If you need proof of his vaccinations but you cannot get the records, unfortunately you will have to have him vaccinated again. If you have him vaccinated at a VETCO clinic the records will be available indefinitely so you don't have to worry about every losing them. Hope this helps. To be honest, vets don't count vaccines when given at home by owners or breeders. This is because the vaccines are often given wrong, or stored improperly rendering the vaccine ineffective. Groomers and kennels won't accept vaccine records not done by a vet. Your vet is the only person who should give her vaccines. In addition, I see she is two months old. Puppies are not old enough for their first vaccines until they are 6-8 weeks of age. The vaccine is ineffective before that point due to the maternal antibodies present in their body. This is another reason why only vets should vaccines pets, as many lay people do not know this. I hope this helps!

In most cases, you'll need owner permission in order for records to be transferred over, so while you can contact the vet, you may not be able to obtain full records. That said, they may at least be able to confirm neuter/vaccine status for you so you can let your vet know. If you can't get any records, you can also have your current vet perform a titer test to see where Wooly's immunity levels are, and then booster vaccines from there.
