Are Pedigree dog treats good, despite their food's bad reputation?

I would say more along the lines of 1-2%. Treats should only be given occasionally, as too many treats leads to obesity. Obesity predisposes pets to many health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, and joint problems.

There are worse brands and there are better brands. If your dog does well on it, is healthy and it is easy for you to get then you can continue to feed it. If your budget and shopping options allow, consider a better quality diet.

I would recommend avoiding anything high in fats and salts to a dogs who has had pancreatitis. The main cause of pancreatitis in dogs is high fat meals. If you are giving Milk Bones, by the tiny size and only give several a day. Most dogs in this country are overweight. Being strict with his diet from the start with help to prevent this from occurring with him. As far as the best chew, it is based on the individual dog.
