My parvo puppy isn't peeing after 24 hours of IV fluids. Is it normal?

Normal urinary incontinence is not associated with parvo disease unless they are to weak to get up and move to go to the bathroom. This may be sign of secondary bladder infection since the immune system is already fighting another virus such as parvo. I would have your vet check a urine sample to see if an infection is the cause as this will require antibiotics. If you notice any vomiting and diarrhea then he should also be checked for parvo as this may be the start. You are doing well as hydration is the key, so keep getting them to drink as often as they can without making them sick

This could just be related to his significant anxiety, or it could be early signs of illness, especially parvo virus if he hasn’t been fully vaccinated. You can try offering a bland diet of chicken breast and cooked white rice to encourage him to eat (you can add a little extra broth for hydration). But if he isn’t doing better tomorrow, he needs to see a vet to determine if there is a medical cause for the change.

This is a viral infection so there is no direct treatment for the virus so the treatment per se is directed at treating secondary bacterial infections and mostly helping with the clinical symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and inappetence. This warrants ideally hospitalization with some cases being able to be managed with outpatient care depending on its severity. I recommend that you follow up with a veterinarian who can institute therapy for Loki as soon as possible. The quicker this condition gets treated the better the outcome tends to be. Good luck! I'm so sorry to hear that Roxanne is feeling so poorly. No, do not stop her from drinking water, but instead of leaving full bowls of water out, try offering her just a few tablespoons of water every hour. If she starts being able to keep this down, you can gradually increase the amount that you're offering. The fact that she's still so thirsty may indicate that she's still quite dehydrated, despite the fluids under the skin. If you're unable to hospitalize her for IV fluids, you may want to ask your vet if they think she should be receiving a larger volume of the subcutaneous fluids under the skin. I hope that she feels better soon!

It's definitely a good sign that she is drinking water. Even if they get adequate amounts of fluids IV, they can still feel parched and want to drink occasionally. This does not indicate that she is dehydrated and is good that she's helping to keep hydrated. The IV fluids, or other methods of hydration should still be given as directed by your vet though. It sounds like your puppy is extremely sick, and parvovirus can take a few weeks for a dog to fully recover. It's very concerning he is not drinking as dehydration is the number one cause of death in these animals. He should see a vet again immediately, please take him into one now. Best of luck.

I'm sorry Fiddle ate a toxic mushroom, but good on you for taking him into the vet right away! Given that he had both an IV and sub-q fluids, it could be these fluids are what is causing him to have to urinate so much. I would keep an eye on him for now, and if he continues to have problems with this excessive urination in the morning, I would give the vet a call to see if they want you to bring him in.
