How likely are outdoor fleas to infest my home with a protected pet?

You certainly are quite worried about this, and that makes me concerned for you. You have mentioned your dog is on a monthly flea preventative, and you did say in a previous post that your dog was treated last week. If you cannot handle daily actives because of your fear and worry, I think it would be best if you speak to a mental health professional about this to get some help. Your dog is well protected with the monthly flea treatment program, and you haven't found anymore more fleas in the home. Please believe the experts when we say a monthly prevention program is enough. I do recommend getting some help for your OCD as it's severely affecting your life at this point in time. I'm sorry you are so worried, but truly you have no need to be this concerned. Trust me when I say we would have told you if you have a reason to worry :-)

Hi and thanks for your post! Yes, it is recommended that even indoor cats be on flea preventative. The reason for this is fleas can find ways into your home and even hitch a ride on you! It only takes one flea to induce a flea allergy and cause an infestation eventually so it is better to prevent. Dealing with fleas on your pet and in your house can be a real headache. Oh, that makes me itch too just thinking about fleas crawling around! If you saw one flea, there will definitely be more in the home, but since Jake is on Bravecto, he should be protected from them. Be sure to give him his next dose on time. As for your cat, well there is the potential more were on your clothes and got in your car. I recommend getting a spray called Indorex which can be used to kill fleas. I hope this helps :-)

I would say it's safe with one flea killed and no more signs seen. Theoretically, they could live in house plants, but again since you haven't seen anymore, I wouldn't be worried about it. You are on top of it if you have an exterminator spray, and to give you peace of mind, you can have them come again now :-)

If the dog was treated prior to coming to you house then the fleas are likely dying. It somewhat depends on what treatment the dog was given as to how much of a problem these fleas may be. I would make sure to keep your dog current on flea medication. Vacuum areas where your dad's dog has been and empty the canister outside as this may pick up an flea eggs or larvae that fell off of that dog. More than likely your house will be fine without drastic treatments. Be sure all pets have flea medication applied or given.

Hi there. I would recommend starting Beast on a good quality prescription flea control medication such as Nexgard or Bravecto. This will ensure that he does not have any live fleas on him at the time of your move, which should prevent your new home from becoming infested.

Flea collars is a good idea for the feral kittens, but fleas do not live on the animal, they live in the environment. The problem is the outdoors where fleas live which can jump onto Whitey. He is protected from fleas with the Revolution, but potentially he could carry them into the home, causing the home to be infested with fleas. To keep your house from having fleas in it, I'd keep him indoors. Best of luck.
