My old dog is having seizures and trouble breathing. What should I do?

Poor Guido! Uncontrollable seizures and trouble breathing require immediate veterinary attention. I recommend having Guido seen at an emergency clinic, there is usually at least one clinic in most towns/cities. Guido can be stabilized and given anti-seizure medication and supportive care, and then diagnostic tests can be performed to determine the underlying cause. Please take her to your nearest emergency clinic - cluster seizures can progress to a life threatening status epilepticus if not treated in time and can be very difficult to manage. Have a quick look to see if she may have ingested anything toxic - slug pellets, mouldy food, chocolate etc

I would be concerning that Hershey is sick. When I hear of an old dog having a seizure, unfortunately my first thought is that it may be related to cancer, such as a brain tumor. She could also be suffering from diabetes or liver failure causing the seizure. Seizures are not normal in dogs, even when they are old (old age is not a disease). She should see a vet first thing in the morning for physical exam, geriatric blood panel, and urinalysis. It is hard to say exactly without seeing a video of the spells that are concerning; however, it seems that seizures are a possibility here. I would highly recommend recording one of these episodes on your phone and showing them to your veterinarian for verification of what exactly these are. If they are seizures, then this is considered an uncontrolled condition if they are happening more than once every 30 days, and Charlie would need to start taking anti-seizure medication to help stabilize his condition and help prevent any permanent brain damage. I am concerned this may be syncope, or collapse due to poor circulation very common in older figs with heart disease. An urgent vet check and assessment for medication is required, keep strictly rested in the meantime
