Old dog not eating, vomiting, lethargic, and limping. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 11 years and 7 months old | 75 lbs

Hello, I have a male silver Lab, 11 years old, neutered, all shots, had a good appetite up too a couple of weeks ago, so changed from the Diamond brand food, to "Taste of the Wild" brand, grain free, single source protein, still no appetite, he would eat wet canned food, for a week, now not interested in even the top shelf dog food, he vomits a clear mucous, often when I watch for it, lethargic and limping more, hes also been getting Glucosamine Chondroitin, MSM added to diet for a couple Months

I'm sorry to hear Cyrus is having issues. Based on the combination of signs you are seeing, I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian. We would be concerned about exposure to tick borne disease (such as Lyme), an infection, an underlying medical issue (diabetes, kidney disease, liver issues), cancer, or an underlying GI issue. I would have him evaluated, have any necessary testing done (X-rays, bloodwork), and start on any treatment that may be needed. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear about Cyrus. In a dog his age there are many different possible causes for a decreased appetite and vomiting. If he has a history of eating things he shouldn't (like toys, rocks, socks) we worry about a partial intestinal blockage or foreign body. We would worry about primary gastrointestinal disease such as inflammatory bowel disease, stomach ulcers or tumors of the stomach or intestinal tract. We would also worry about systemic disease causing nausea and vomiting such as liver or kidney disease, or chronic pancreatitis. At his age with this problem going on for so long, he truly needs a work-up at his vet's office which will start with a good physical exam and then involve diagnostics such as bloodwork, x-rays and possibly ultrasound.

Dog vomiting, diarrhea, limping, panting, not eating. What's wrong?

Oh my. These symptoms sound like a possible tick borne disease or even a septic arthritis. I would highly recommend having Scotch seen by your vet for bloodwork analysis and a test for tick diseases, especially if he has a fever. Poor guy. I hope he feels better soon. My dog is limping, sleeping more, and not eating. What's wrong?

Lameness, loss of appetite and energy are definitely concerning. This can be caused by tick borne diseases such as Lyme disease. There are also certain bone and joint diseases that only affect growing puppies, and need to be ruled out with an x-Ray. I recommend having your appointment sooner rather than later, you may want to call your vet and ask for an earlier appointment.

Why is my old dog's belly swollen, drinking lots, and bloody stools?

It could be something serious like heart disease or even cancer causing Cyrus's symptoms, but without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. Before considering putting him down, I'd have him seen by a vet for this issue to see if it's something that may be able to be treated. I'd have him seen by a vet in the morning. Best of luck.

My senior Pomeranian is weak, limping, vomiting, and has diarrhea.

I’m so sorry Chibbu is sick. It sounds like the cough and limping are better but now the concern is vomiting, diarrhea, and not wanting to move much. The vomiting and diarrhea could be due to antibiotics If he is still on them, it could be due to the diet change (milk can cause upset stomach as most dogs can’t digest it well), or it could be due to whatever is going on. I am particularly worried for organ disease or failure (liver and kidney) and possible cancer. With his age and signs, I would definitely get into a vet if possible. Blood work and X-rays/ultrasound would be a good place to start to find out what’s going on.

My dog is suddenly lethargic, limping, and very thirsty. What's wrong?

Excessive thirst can be a sign of many different diseases including liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, infections, Cushing's Addison's, etc. Have your vet take a look at him to determine the cause. Your vet can run lab-work to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. The limping may be unrelated and your vet can examine his leg to try to figure out the cause.
