Is NextGard Spectra good for small dogs' flea, tick, and worm control?

NexGard Spectra is an oral chewable medication that is given monthly to protect your dog against fleas, ticks, heartworm, lungworm, hookworm, whipworm and roundworm. It does not treat tapeworm infection, but you can give the tapeworm medication concurrently if necessary. Yes, NexGard Spectra has been shown to be both safe and effective at treating and preventing ticks and fleas as well as preventing heartworms in dogs. However, this product is currently only available in Europe and Australia. Hopefully it will be approved for use in the United States soon, but until then you may need to stick with the NexGard/HeartGard combination. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!

You will find such a review on the internet for every single product out there, do not believe everything you read on the net, there is a lot of false information. Nexgard is an absolutely safe product for Bella.

Hi there! Yes, Advantix would be a very reasonable choice to use along with Sentinel Spectrum. You could also use Nexgard or Bravecto for tick coverage, if you prefer an oral medication instead of topical.

NexGard does not prevent heartworms but does prevent fleas and ticks. I use it on my own dogs and have been very happy with the product. Advantix or Frontline are also good products so you should use whatever you prefer.

Great question! Nexgard kills the deer tick as well as fleas and American dog tick/rocky mountain tick, and lone star tick. It is an oral pill as well, so I would us that for your dogs. Because Nexgard doesn't protect again heartworms, you will have to give your dogs Heartgard as well, which is available by prescription only from the vet. Advantix is a spot on treatment that treats the same things as Nexgard, but you would also have to use Heartgard as well for the heartworms. These two medications (Nexgard and Advantix) are for dogs only. As for the cats, Simparica prevents five types of ticks, so this may work for your cats :-)

You have a few options. If you want an all in one product, try Trifexis. Otherwise you will two separate products. You might try Simparica (fleas/ticks) and Interceptor (heartworm/intestinal worms). I also recommend to have Sparky's stool checked for worms in case that was a round worm. For that parasite, pets are often given bolus dewormings since people can get that worm. That will clear up the infection faster.
