Is NexGard Spectra as safe and effective as NexGard HeartGard?

Yes, I like NextGard Spectra. It is a good flea and tick preventative, and it has the added benefit of treating roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. It does work, and I would recommend using it on Bella :-)

You will find such a review on the internet for every single product out there, do not believe everything you read on the net, there is a lot of false information. Nexgard is an absolutely safe product for Bella.

NexGard Spectra is an oral chewable medication that is given monthly to protect your dog against fleas, ticks, heartworm, lungworm, hookworm, whipworm and roundworm. It does not treat tapeworm infection, but you can give the tapeworm medication concurrently if necessary. Yes it is safe to use these medications together. Just make sure you are using the ivermectin dose for heartworms or better yet a pre made heartworm product with ivermectin (Heartgard or otherwise). I hope this helps and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

NexGard does not prevent heartworms but does prevent fleas and ticks. I use it on my own dogs and have been very happy with the product. Advantix or Frontline are also good products so you should use whatever you prefer.

Great question! Nexgard kills the deer tick as well as fleas and American dog tick/rocky mountain tick, and lone star tick. It is an oral pill as well, so I would us that for your dogs. Because Nexgard doesn't protect again heartworms, you will have to give your dogs Heartgard as well, which is available by prescription only from the vet. Advantix is a spot on treatment that treats the same things as Nexgard, but you would also have to use Heartgard as well for the heartworms. These two medications (Nexgard and Advantix) are for dogs only. As for the cats, Simparica prevents five types of ticks, so this may work for your cats :-)

Hi there! Yes, Advantix would be a very reasonable choice to use along with Sentinel Spectrum. You could also use Nexgard or Bravecto for tick coverage, if you prefer an oral medication instead of topical.
