Best natural supplements for my Cavalier's heart, eyes, and joints?

A heart supplement wouldn’t hurt but she probably doesn’t necessarily need one, particularly if she does not have documented heart disease. If you choose to use a supplement I would recommend VetriScience Cardio. You should always check with your vet before starting any supplement.

Royal Canin diets are all formulated with pre-biotics which help support a health gut bacteria. You could add in an additional probiotic but you may not see a huge amount of benefits BUT it will not hurt anything. Purina makes a very nice probiotic called FortiFlora and that would be the one I recommend. The Bio-Cardio may be beneficial but to the best of my knowledge, no testing has been done to know for sure if this is effective or not. Royal Canin does make a diet specific for Cavaliers that has additives for heart heath. They also make a diet for pets with heart disease or even just heart murmurs. They have done some studies indicating that these diets do impact heart health. Your fatty acid supplement does help to maintain heart health through its natural anti-inflammatory properties. I would recommend to look into the other diets and discuss with your vet if these may be good option for Chloe. I'd recommend Dasuquin or Cosequin, which are excellent joint supplements. You can also give Peluche fish oil supplements, which help with fur and eyes. For every 30 pounds of body weight, give him 1,000 mg fish oil containing 300 mg of EPA/DHA combined. Best of luck.

Unfortunately, this Coq10 will not prevent her from getting heart disease. There's no harm in giving it to her, but as you've said, the cavalier King Charles spaniel is prone to heart disease genetically. Supplements do not change her genetics, but you can help her heart health by making sure she isn't obese and has plenty of exercise.

As long as you are feeding a complete and balanced diet commercial dog food, you don;t need to worry about those types of supplements unless Remy has some sort of pre-existing condition. For normal, healthy aging dogs, the most common supplements are joint health (I recommend Adequan and Dasuquin) and omega 3 fatty acids for pets. I would not recommend giving Niko raw eggs. Raw eggs are not safe to feed him, and there is the risk of poisoning from avidin, which is a protein in raw eggs whites. Excess avidin interferes with the functioning of biotin in the body, which in turn is essential for the growth of cells, metabolism of fat, and transference of carbon dioxide among other things. You can feed him hardboiled eggs with no shell instead. I would also causing against using too much olive oil, as that will lead to pancreatitis. Too much fish oil interferes with wound healing. Use sparing amounts of olive oil, and you can give Niko 1,000 mg fish oil containing 300 mg of EPA/DHA combined for every 30 pounds of weight. To keep him heart healthy, do not over feed him, make sure he is on a high quality puppy formulated food, and take him out for regular exercise.

Dasuquin with MSM and Cosequin DS Plus MSM (both by Nutramax Labs) are excellent products. I prefer these because it is the same company that makes the human product, Cosamin, and one of the few companies that submits its products for outside testing to verify ingredients. The GlycoFlex line of products would also be one to consider. These are my own personal recommendations.
