My dog has joint issues. What are the best supplements to try?

Great question! I really like Dasuquin and Cosequin as joint supplements for dogs. I have found that in senior dogs with arthritis, Dasuquin is a great option because it contains ASU, which stands for Avocado & Soybean Unsaphonifiables. ASU is seen as considerably more effective in regards to repairing stiff, sore, and injured joints. For Oscar, I'd recommend Dasuquin. I hope this helps!

I would recommend you consider Cosequin or Dasuquin as both cover all the joint supplements such as glucosamine and chondroitin that are great for joint health. Both of these are over the counter. You are usually able to see a marked improvement within weeks to a few months. Best of luck!

Vetriscience I believe have a treat formula for omega 3 fatty acids. I really like dasuquin but flexadin is also good. I have not used the naturvet joint supplement but you could try it. The both have a soft chew formula. Naturvet has an omega 3 FA supplement called omega gold. This would also be a good FA option. I hope this helps!

No, there is no difference between the active ingredients of glucosamine and MSM in Dasuquin or human labeled products. However, there is very little regulation and oversight with any supplements - human or veterinary. This means that some manufacturers put too little or way too much of an active ingredient in a supplement, regardless of the label claims. Personally, I often recommend using the Nutramax products (manufacturer of Dasuquin) since I'm more comfortable with their testing than with many other brands on the market. Cosequin is a very good joint supplement for dogs. I'd also recommend Dasuquin. It's another good brand. If you are feeding Dasani a high quality dog food, you do not need to add vitamins to her diet. Too many vitamins can lead to toxicity. I hope this helps!

Studies generally conclude that the human version of arthritis supplements are not able to be absorbed by dogs. Instead look for a supplement for dogs. The two I recommend our Dasuquan and Duralactin. Starting him on an additional omega-3 fatty acid for dogs will also help with arthritis.
