Is Natural Balance L.I.D. Venison dog food healthy for my dog?

Natural Balance is not a high protein food. I currently have my 14 year old on Natural Balance (who is very inactive), and he does well on that protein amount. The problem with feeding 1/2 rice is that you will throw off all the other nutritional factors in the diet (not just the protein), so it won't be a balanced diet anymore. I hope that was helpful! I love Natural Balance and am really surprised that it caused an upset tummy. As far as flavor goes, most of my patients like the venison and sweet potato the best. If she has skin allergies you want to stay away from the chicken and beef as most dogs are allergic to these. You could try Fromm's which is a little more expensive but a good food. Another option is to do a hypoallergenic diet that is prescribed by your vet. Always slowly mix the old food with the new food to help transition. I hope this helps!

As long as the Natural Balance Vegetarian contains an AAFCO statement on the bag it should be balanced for Halo. Although because dogs should really eat some form of meat I'd recommend trying one of the Natural Balance Limited Ingredient diets instead. Choose a protein Halo has never had before like venison or rabbit and feed that strictly for at least 8 weeks to know if it is working. If the Natural Balance diet does not help you may want to talk to your veterinarian about a prescription hypoallergenic diet like Royal Canin Hydrolyzed protein or limited ingredient. Most of Natural Balance's foods are limited ingredient or high-quality ingredients, so they should be fine to feed. If you've transitioned recently from dry to wet it may be that the higher amount of liquid in the wet diet is increasing the stool volume slightly. As long as it isn't runny, discolored, or distressful to Chloe when she goes potty, this is fine.

I would look into Nautral Balance Venison and Sweet Potato formula. This is a limited ingredient diet that isn't too high in protein. Foods that are too high in protein can actually cause issues with bladder crystals and bladder stones. I hope this helps!

I'm a fan of I/D. Hill's has veterinary nutritionists on staff, they run feeding trials, and they are an excellent food company. I put more trust in a company that has veterinary nutritionists on staff to make sure a dog's nutritional balance is met than with a company that doesn't have them on staff. I hope this helps!

For a dog without allergies, they should be getting between 30-70% of their daily diet. This is a little low for a dog, and I don't recommend feeding grain free or low carb diets unless the dog has been diagnosed with food allergies.
