Is molasses safe for my small dog? How much can a Chihuahua have?

A very small amount of honey (1 tsp twice a day) is fine for dogs- it does not really matter what kind. I would not use any more than that though because it is pure sugar and not the best treat for dogs. I prefer peanut butter if you want to give him a tsp if sowmhung yummy to lick at. Neither of these should be given in any significant quantity. In some dog foods, there will be small amounts of sugars and salts. However, any excessive amount of either of these can result in illnesses. Salt in large amounts is especially dangerous, as this can result in kidney issues that can be difficult to resolve.

Maltitol is not toxic to dogs like some other artificial sweeteners (such as xylitol), but it can sometimes cause GI upset or diarrhea in some dogs. So if possible, it would be better to use a treat that doesn't contain any artificial sweeteners at all. Many dogs enjoy cooked carrots or green beans, or small pieces of chicken or roast beef as treats. If you do opt to give Pepper the cookies, I would limit it to a small amount very occasionally to minimize the risk of upsetting her stomach.

Dates are not poisonous for dogs, but the pits can be very dangerous for dogs, so I would never recommend giving an entire date. The other concern with dates is that they are very high in sugar and fiber, so you need to be careful how much you give a small dog like a Pomeranian. Yes, both of these foods are safe for dogs - there's no reason that you couldn't give them every day, in small amounts as a treat. Just make sure that you're not using a sugar-free brand of peanut butter, as some of these contain xylitol which is toxic for dogs. Most "regular" peanut butter brands are fine :)

I wouldn't recommend giving cheese as it is high in fat and not needed in your pets diet. It's also likely to cause diarrhea. Instead it's best to stick with dog approved treats. Some foods like apples, bananas and green beans are also ok and provide more nutritional value than cheese.
