Why is my Miniature Schnauzer regurgitating food hours after eating?

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 10 months old | 10 lbs

My 2 year old miniature schnauzer with cerebellar hypoplasia has been regurgitating her food hours after eating. She has done this 5 times in the last 25 hours. She is still playful and interested in food and water. I dont know if she has pooped in 24 hours. Not in any noticeable pain.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Sweetpea. Poor girl, she sounds sick. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. My 8-week Schnauzer puppy is vomiting, not eating. Should I see a vet?

It sounds as Frio is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

My dog vomited and has small poops. When should I see a vet about it?

I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
